Christmas has come early for one petrolhead – thanks to Swinton Specialist!
Andrew Hall is the lucky winner of the Swinton Specialist amazing 2009 'win-a-project-car' competition. His prize is the key to a classic Nissan Skyline R33 twin-turbo super-coupé, specially imported from Japan and worth more than £10,000.
But that's not all. He also takes home a £2,000 budget for modifications of his choice, plus a year's free insurance courtesy of Swinton Specialist.
"I got the call and I thought it was a wind-up!" laughed Andrew (46). "But then I remembered the competition had been mentioned when I called Swinton Specialist for a quote on my current car – which I actually took up because it was cheaper than my renewal."
And with a four-year-old Subaru Impreza WRX STi already on the drive, factory worker Andrew now has quite a car collection! He's already planning what to spend his Skyline mods money on, with a dump valve for the turbo, a high-end entertainment system and a gauge cluster for the cabin all top of his shopping list.
Andrew is going to be the envy of his mates. His new toy is an all-wheel-drive 1997 vintage Skyline R33. Under the bonnet is a 2.6-litre twin-turbo powerplant, which means around 300bhp at his right foot and a 0-60mph time of five seconds.
Rob Asher, head of Swinton Specialist, commented: "We're delighted for Andrew and wish him an enjoyable future with the Skyline. As a confirmed petrolhead already, I'm sure he'll have great fun with it."
The 2009 'win-a-project-car' competition is the third of its type staged by Swinton Specialist, and with a prize like the R33 it's easily proved the most popular.
Rob Asher continued: "There's no doubt that 2009 has set a new standard. A staggering 75,000 people entered which is truly amazing. We're delighted so many people wanted to win the Skyline."
Lucky Andrew was presented with his prize at Donington Park by Swinton Specialist's Alex Cooke.
